Posted by jola

Good news from the Schoenbrunn Zoo: The Brutstimmung the two bump crocodiles Puebla and Durango had consequences on the 8th July 2009, in the night, laid 15 eggs from Puebla in Bruthügel.

Of the eggs 12 pieces were dug up by the nurses. They are hatched in an incubator. Three eggs remained in the Bruthügel. Thus, the crocs can enjoy their natural breeding behavior. Puebla also has a sense of achievement when young should hatch.

The eggs were carefully excavated for the "relocation" packed in the incubator. They remain - as in zoos usual - until the young hatch in the incubator:

So that the crocodiles were disturbed Bruthügel the building was a part of the glass wall painted with opaque paint. From the side or from the entrance you can still catch a glimpse of the Bruthügel and the two crocodiles:

Now it says to wait and keep fingers crossed. The Incubation period is approximately 80 days. Thereafter, the enclosure could also bump the crocodiles in the crocodile-crawling pavilion end of September mini-crocodiles. Mama Puebla that protects the Dwarfs, it is likely. Whether Dad Durango rather the protective instincts, or at least more of the hunting instinct comes through, we will - hopefully - be able to experience in early autumn. In the latter case, the enclosure can be divide into two areas of the crocodiles.

Here's a video of Puebla and Durango from 1 February 2009 - as you can see, her empire was still spared from the "great" art project with a bath, tires, etc.:
